Where are you from or where do you live around here?

I live just outside of the city in the Massanetta Springs area.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am married to Damon, to my high school sweetheart, and we have three kids- Cameron, Aubrey and Cora who are 15, 13, and 6. I work full time for Sentara Medical Group as a Practice Management Coordinator. I am finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Admin at Liberty University. I love to be outside (hiking, camping, at the park, or just on my back deck). I love football (Geaux Saints!), especially college football (Go Irish!).

What got you started at Rocktown CrossFit?

My friend had been doing CrossFit for a few years and she participated in a competition while we were visiting her in Georgia. We went to cheer her on and I just knew in that moment that I wanted to try CrossFit. I knew Nate, Lauren, Jett, and Collins through daycare and so I signed up at Rocktown shortly after we got back from Georgia.

When or what was your "CrossFit Moment" - the moment that you really felt pushed or felt like you really accomplished something?

I feel like I have these moments A LOT. Anytime I exceed my own expectations (which happens so often, thank you coaches for all those ‘little’ pushes to add weight, or row harder, or run a little faster); or you complete a workout that looked hard on the board and felt impossible to finish but you push through to the end and even though you’re laying on the floor you feel amazing for crossing the finish line.

What are your goals for CrossFit? Why do you do CrossFit?

I think my goals for CrossFit are to just keep pushing, I have amazed myself so far with just how strong I am and how much my body can change.

What do you think is special about Rocktown CrossFit?

Rocktown CrossFit has literally changed my life. I love all the people, I love the coaches, I love those bright green walls. When I walk in, I just know there are no excuses, and the only thing accepted is your best effort. It’s my favorite hour of the day, where nothing else matters but the workout and everyone is cheering for each other.

What are your favorite movements to do in a workout? What are your least favorite? Why?

Oh goodness, I know that whatever I say I don’t love Nate will put them all in one workout :) Some of my favorites are cleans  and snatches (I love the barbell, and I love when we work up to a one rep max), some of my least favorite movements are burpees, kettlebell swings, and thrusters.

Free write - whatever you feel like you want to share.

I would just like to thank Nate and Lauren for all the hard work they put into The Rock to make it so amazing. I really can’t imagine my life without this gym and that is coming from someone who has tried and didn’t like just about every other gym and workout in Harrisonburg. I am sorry I didn’t start CrossFit sooner. I wish I could have known what CrossFit is really all about and that you don’t have to be an athlete, or super fit to join CrossFit. I am so thankful for The Rock and all it has done and is still doing for me.

If you have been to a 0530 class and had a hard time hearing the coach due to somebody talking...chances are Lyndsay was the culprit. All jokes aside our paths first crossed with Lyndsay outside of The Rock almost 5 years ago as we shared the same baby sitter. She was a sweet soul who always shared love for Jett and we are so thankful she’s found a home here with us. With every milestone you can see her wanting it a little more and putting in the work to get each one along the way.

Lyndsay has melted away pounds but what has been so inspiring is along the way her focus has been solely to be a better athlete...working her technique, getting a little stronger, and adding some running to her regiment all have resulted in her transformation. Lyndsey the sky is the limit and we are so glad you found your inner athlete. Keep grinding, Nate will keep shooshing, but there’s no denying every 0530 is a little better with some Lyndsay Keck.
